Rock & Roll is still very much alive. You can feel it in the raw energy of Desoto Jones, a band which blends contemporary sound with the roots of American Rock.
The ragged intensity of Desoto Jones is reminiscent of the early days of grunge and alternative, but is also pleasantly sophisticated; the band skillfully fuses ear-grabbing melodies with soulful, introspective lyrics. Their music is an inquest of candid expression, but the band doesn't try to wax philosophic; the lyrics grow from real, relatable experiences.
Their music invokes a sense of nostalgia for the past, travelling deep to touch the most basic human emotions.
Water to Flame (Official Video)
Written during the pandemic, the band collaborated remotely sending demos back and forth. "Air" was composed individually through headphones at home rather than in a loud practice room, inspiring thoughtful lyrics looking at the passage of time and the values of the band.
Conceived years ago, "Get Well" came together from revisiting old demos through a new lens. With a punchy riff and passionate lyrics, it goes to show that it can pay off to let a track breathe.
FIGHT OR FLIGHT
With clear cut lyrics and a John Bonham inspired bridge drum section, "Fight or Flight" is a classic in the making. Beginning with the main riff the composition evolved as Julian Dorio of The Whigs, Eagles of Death Metal and Band of Skulls was hired to track the drums on the demo version.
